After an intense two-and-a-half months of dedicated renovation, it feels surreal to have crossed everything off the to-do list and transition into sharing the final results with you through this blog post.

Dining Room Transformation: From Functional to Focal Point

The dining room presented an exciting opportunity to create a central gathering space within the Curbly House. Boasting expansive east and south-facing windows and a built-in shelving unit primed for styling, the room held immense potential. However, it also featured an unusual closet in one corner and outdated light fixtures.

Our vision was to revitalize the room with a unique chandelier above a sturdy trestle table, establishing a grounded and inviting atmosphere. A key aspect of the renovation involved removing the wall separating the dining room and kitchen, resulting in a large, open-concept living, dining, and working area that promotes seamless interaction.

Kitchen Remodel: From Wee Closet to Culinary Haven

The kitchen transformation is perhaps the most dramatic in the Curbly House. Initially, the kitchen was a mere seven-by-seven-foot space, making it challenging for even two people to occupy comfortably. It also had an exterior door and the space was hard to access.

We addressed this challenge by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, creating an open-concept space with a butcher block-topped island from Lumber Liquidators.

Classic white shaker cabinets are complemented by shiny brass hardware and a bold black-grouted subway tile backsplash. The elegant pendant lights, sourced from Lamps Plus, complete the aesthetic.
