More Than Just a Flip: Creating a Home with Character

While this project technically falls under the category of a “flip,” our vision extends far beyond that. We aim to create a home that feels curated, intentional, and full of character. We want to avoid the cookie-cutter feel and instead create a space that resonates with warmth and personality.

What makes this project truly unique is that we’re planning to list the house for sale fully designed and furnished! The lucky new owners will have the option to keep all the carefully selected furnishings and decor, making their move-in process seamless and stress-free.

Our ultimate goal is for a family to walk through the finished home and immediately envision themselves living there, creating memories, and adding their own personal touch. It’s about finding the right match between the house and its future owners – a matchmaking process in the world of home design.

A New Design Direction: Blending Tradition with Modernity

We’re incredibly excited about the design direction for this house, as it allows us to explore a slightly different aesthetic than our usual Mid-Century Modern or contemporary leanings. While we love clean lines and modern designs, we’re eager to incorporate more traditional elements to create a balanced and timeless look.

The Living Room: Creating a Welcoming and Stylish Space

The living room is the heart of the home, a place for relaxation, conversation, and making memories. Our vision for the Curbly House living room is a space that is both inviting and stylish, blending comfortable furnishings with elegant details.

To create a more open and airy feel, we’re planning to remove a few walls on the ground floor. This is crucial because the existing kitchen is quite small, while the dining room feels excessively large. By opening up these spaces, we’ll create a seamless flow between the living room, dining room, and kitchen, making it ideal for entertaining and family gatherings.

The Dining Room: Creating a Stylish and Functional Space

The dining room is where meals are shared, conversations flow, and memories are made. Our goal is to create a dining space that is both elegant and functional, perfect for both formal dinners and casual family meals.

The Second Floor: Embracing Architectural Details and Creating Cozy Retreats

The second floor of the Curbly House has a unique charm, almost like a little “castle.” It features a narrow landing (which we’re considering opening up) and four bedrooms, each with sloping ceilings and interesting window bump-outs. These architectural details add character and visual interest, and we plan to highlight them with paint accents and strategic lighting.

Our intention is to maintain a muted color palette, but we envision incorporating soft blues, greens, creams, and pinks to create a calming and inviting atmosphere in the bedrooms.
