We used a 2 1/2-inch (65 mm) pom-pom maker for the majority of our pom poms, but also incorporated some larger 3 3/8-inch (85 mm) pom poms for added dimension. When tying off your pom poms, consider using clear fishing line, heavy-duty sewing thread, crochet thread, or even dental floss instead of yarn. These materials are typically thinner and stronger than yarn, providing a more secure hold and preventing the pom poms from unraveling.
