That’s why I designed these special Valentine’s Day cards featuring some of my favorite “gals” throughout history. Some are known for their incredible achievements, while others are remembered for their rebellious spirits. Regardless, each woman on these cards has left an indelible mark on the world. The captions practically wrote themselves as I reflected on their lives and legacies.

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating Your Historical Valentines

Follow these simple steps to create your unique and empowering Valentine’s Day cards:

Step 1: Print and Cut

First, print both pages of the Valentine templates in full color on your white cardstock. Ensure your printer settings are optimized for the best color output. Once printed, carefully cut out each Valentine using a craft knife and a ruler. A metal ruler is highly recommended for its durability and safety.

Place the printed cardstock on your cutting surface to protect your table. Align the ruler with the edge of the Valentine you want to cut out. Press down firmly on the ruler to prevent it from slipping. Using the ruler as a guide, carefully run the craft knife along the edge. Repeat this process for each side of the Valentine until it’s completely detached.

If you have a paper cutter, feel free to use that instead. It can provide a quicker and more precise cutting experience. However, always prioritize safety when using any cutting tool.

Step 2: Fold Each Card

After cutting out each Valentine, it’s time to fold them in half. This will create the traditional card format. For a clean and crisp fold, follow this technique:

Align the halfway point of each card along the hard edge of your ruler. This will serve as a guide for creating a precise fold. Fold the card over the edge of the ruler, creasing it from the back. This method helps to avoid any unsightly creases or tears.

Run your finger along the folded edge to further reinforce the crease. A well-defined fold will give your Valentine a professional and polished appearance.

Step 3: Secure with Glue

To keep your Valentine securely folded, apply a small amount of glue along the back of the card. A glue stick works best for this task, as it provides a clean and even application.

Be careful not to use too much glue, as this can cause the card to become warped or sticky. A thin layer of glue is all you need to ensure a secure bond. Once the glue is applied, fold the card shut and press gently to allow the glue to adhere.
