Here it is! Our dream kitchen, finally a reality. We couldn’t be happier with the results. Every detail, from the countertops to the backsplash, was carefully chosen to create a space that is both beautiful and practical.

The Kitchen Makeover Journey: From Inspiration to Installation

Our kitchen makeover began in September when we meticulously selected all the necessary components. This included everything from the stunning glass tile to the elegant faucet and the durable, beautiful sink. October was dedicated to a significant DIY undertaking: painting the kitchen cabinets. Contrary to what many believe, painting cabinets is not a quick weekend job. It’s a process that requires patience, precision, and several coats of paint. We finally completed this stage in early November, just in time for the installation of our incredible countertops.

Caesarstone Countertops: A Dream Come True

We chose Misty Carrera quartz from Caesarstone, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision. What makes Caesarstone quartz so special? Demo day: Ripping out the old countertops

The Countertop Installation Process

In November, we contacted Bedrock Quartz, a local Caesarstone fabricator, to begin the process of installing our dream countertops. We discussed all the details, from the edge profile to the desired depth. Finally, the day we had been waiting for arrived: demo day! Ripping out the old, worn-out countertops and the half-broken sink was a truly momentous occasion. This happened right before Thanksgiving, which presented a unique challenge: making jello molds without a functional sink or countertops! It was an experience, to say the least.

Installation Day: Pure Kitchen Bliss

Fast forward to December: the fabrication process was complete, and our countertops were ready for installation! I cannot adequately express how excited I was for this day. Forget demo day; installation day was the best day ever! The joy I felt was comparable to the feeling of becoming a parent… except my kitchen was giving birth to beautiful, perfect quartz slabs. It was truly a magical experience.

Plumbing and the Farmhouse Sink Dream

Once the countertops were installed, we finally had our plumbing up and running again. This meant I could finally use the farmhouse sink I had been dreaming about for the past five years. It’s absolutely ginormous and gorgeous, big enough to wash at least 20 puppies at once (not that I’m planning on doing that!).

Final Touches and Completion

We wrapped up the final stages of our kitchen makeover in January and February by painting the walls and installing the luscious glass tile backsplash. After months of hard work, our old, builder-grade kitchen is finally gone! Now, I can happily enjoy our bright, art-filled space, knowing that no nasty microorganisms are lurking on our non-porous quartz countertops. It feels fantastic!

The *magical* fabrication process: I had the opportunity to visit the Bedrock Quartz fabrication facility, and it was truly amazing! There were lasers, giant robot arms, and all the Caesarstone quartz you could imagine. It felt like something out of a science fiction movie!
